Have a few off days between Glacier sightseeing and tours? No worries! The town of Whitefish has no shortage of activities, sights, and bites that make it an amazing place to visit on its own. Here are some of our favorite ways to spend a warm summer weekend in Whitefish.

Cool Off at Whitefish City Beach
Start your weekend with a splash at Whitefish City Beach. As a local favorite with glacial blue water and a mountain backdrop, a refreshing mountain swim is exactly what you need on a hot day. You can also rent a kayak or paddleboard on the beach and venture out farther to explore the coastline!

Grab a Sweet Treat
No trip to Whitefish is complete without a visit to Sweet Peaks. Their ice cream is made right here in Montana, and trust us—”Bear Scat” (a playful combo of blueberry and chocolate) might sound questionable, but it tastes like pure summer. You’ll want to go back for seconds. Maybe thirds.

Go for a Ride!
Whether you’re looking for an enjoyable ride or an adrenaline rush, Whitefish is home to some of the best bike trails in Montana. Rent an e-bike or something more *sporty* and explore the scenic Legacy Trail system, which stretches for miles with easy, beautiful riding. We offer 2-hour, 4-hour, and full day rates. Want more action? Hit the Spencer Mountain bike trails for fast descents, fun features and flowing singletrack—or opt for one of our guided tours if you’d rather let a local lead the way!

Stroll Central Ave
For a dose of small-town charm, spend some time browsing Central Avenue. Pop into locally-owned shops like The Toggery for Montana-inspired apparel and gifts. For a restful afternoon pop into Stumptown Art Studio, where you can paint your own pottery or try your hand at fused glass.
Eat, Drink, and Repeat
There’s no shortage of good eats in Whitefish. Beyond the iconic western bars such as The Bulldog, grab a quick bite at Wrap & Roll, a refreshing huckleberry shake at Huck’s, or savor a crepe from Amazing Crepes on Central Ave. For incredible mixed drinks and thoughtfully prepared dishes, some of our favorites are:
Ciao Mambo – Bold Italian flavors and cozy vibes.
Tupelo Grille – Creative Southern-inspired dishes and standout cocktails.
Jalisco Cantina – Flavorful Mexican fare with a fun twist (and seriously good margaritas)
