Whitefish Outfitters & Tours, along with our associated businesses — Scope Asset Management, Camp Hellroaring, Whitefish Shuttle, our paddleboard concession at Whitefish City Beach, Glacier Adventure Center, and Pedego Whitefish bike sales — offer a dynamic, growth-focused environment serving approximately 10,000 guests annually. Position Overview
We’re seeking a driven and versatile General Manager to lead and oversee the operations of all our businesses. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, constantly-changing environment and possess a deep understanding of tourism, hospitality, and outdoor recreation in the Whitefish area. You’ll be managing a team of approximately 50 seasonal employees, a year-round management staff of 3, a rental fleet of over 200 products, 3 different physical locations, and a growing vehicle fleet. Your leadership will be key to maintaining a culture of safety, excellence, growth, and employee satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Oversee daily operations across multiple businesses, including Whitefish Outfitters & Tours, Scope Asset Management, Camp Hellroaring, Whitefish City Beach paddleboard concession, Whitefish Shuttle, Glacier Adventure Center, and Pedego Whitefish e-bike sales.
- Customer-Centric Leadership: Foster a culture that is customer-focused while also prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of our employees.
- Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and manage a diverse team, creating a positive work environment that values hard work, respect, and collaboration. Ensure high standards for performance, safety, and service.
- Employee Satisfaction: Create a supportive and inclusive culture where employees feel valued, respected, and motivated to deliver their best work.
- Guest Experience: Ensure guests receive world-class experiences by addressing their needs promptly and proactively.
- Strategic Planning: Adapt to seasonal changes, rapidly test new ideas, and identify opportunities for growth.
- Scheduling & Logistics: Efficiently coordinate complex schedules across all business units to meet evolving demands.
- Sales & Marketing: Drive sales and marketing efforts across all business units, enhancing customer engagement and revenue.
- Problem-Solving: Innovate solutions during slower fall seasons to keep teams productive and address unexpected challenges.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership excellence in business.
- Proven experience in tourism, hospitality, or outdoor recreation management.
- Background in cycling, hiking, and paddle sports is a strong plus.
- Deep knowledge of the Flathead Valley and local attractions.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and be available on short notice.
- Experience managing multiple business functions and teams.
- Ability to thrive in a start-up environment focused on growth, margins, and innovation while maintaining legacy services and products.
